POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN BIOINFORMATICS

Bioinformatics has emerged as a field concerned with storing, manipulating, and extracting valuable information from Contemporary Biology, intertwined with technology. Bioinformatics research is poised to become one of the fastest-emerging markets in India. To cater to changing trends in biological science research and the incorporation of machine learning, the Diploma in Bioinformatics, a one-year program, aims to train the young mind with the basics and advanced data analysis methods and tools in biological science. The course will be an advantage and asset for learners intending to be associated with industries as well as research and development in the field of Applied Biology.

Curriculum:

The sixty credits course with 10 modules will deal with regular theory, practical and project-based learning. The modules will be covered in 2 semesters of 5 months each.

Lectures, Practical sessions, and demonstrations will be held (3 days/week – 4 hours/day) - Online mode. [Optional: Special on-campus training sessions will be conducted for all the students]

Minimum 75% attendance, regular class participation, submission of regular assignments, and an expert-guided method of evaluation are the minimum requirements for the completion of the course.

Duration: The course will start from July 2023 to May 2024.

Evaluation: At the end of every module, a written test / practical test or any other mode of evaluation depending on the needs and learning objective specified for the module, will be administered to the students. In addition, lab exercises and assignments submitted during the course will be evaluated.

End-of-the-course evaluation required mandatory submission of project report / Problem-solving exercises based on the modules of the course. 

Eligibility Criteria:

Students who have completed a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in biological science streams.

Students who are currently pursuing M.Sc. I / II year in Biological Sciences (specialization in subjects of Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Life Science / Botany / Zoology) / BTech / MTech / B Pharm / MPharm

Applicants who are Ph.D. students or working professionals with an undergraduate degree in biological sciences are eligible to apply.

Course Fees: Rs 75,000/- (Payable in 2 installments - at the point of admission and prior to November 2023)
